Small Enough to Know You

Congregation Beth Torah’s Social Action is about tikkun olam (repairing the world) which is one of the most important ways to actively live a Jewish life. For questions about this group and/or their events, contact Social Action Chair, Ruben Granado, at

IRC Refugee Apartment Makeover

Congregation Beth Torah and Temple Shalom.

Resettling refugees in a new home.

Each year, thousands of refugees are granted sanctuary in the United States. Forced to flee their home countries due to persecution or conflict, many have survived incredible odds to get here.

Please help us welcome these people into our community by providing new and/or gently used items to make their apartment a home. On July 13, we will begin our campaign collecting general items needed for two families. At the end of July, the International Rescue Committee will be able to tell us the specific families we will be helping and we will expand the list of items. Click here to see a list of needed items.

We will be storing items at Temple Shalom. If you are not able to drop the item(s) off, we will be happy to pick them up. We will also be having a Refugee House Warming on August 9. Look for more details below.

If it is more convenient for you to make a small cash donation of $5 or $10, we will purchase an item needed for the family for you. Please forward your cash donations to the office with the label Refugee House Warming.

Please include with your gift of new items a copy of the receipt for use by the IRC to calculate donations.
