The JCC/Shaare Zedek Synagogue is a conservative synagogue in San Juan, Puerto Rico. They are facing some financial challenges due to last year’s storm, Hurricane Maria, which is considered to be the worst natural disaster on record to affect Puerto Rico and the deadliest Atlantic hurricane.
The hurricane disrupted much of their normal fundraising activities. Shaare Zedek needs help in funding for programs such as Hebrew School, Youth Activities, Adult Education, religious services, Kiddush, and utilities as well as other expenses.
CBT Social Action, along with Rabbi Zelony, is challenging CBT congregants to consider donating $18.00 (or multiples of $18) to help support Jewish life in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Donations from us can help keep Jewish life alive in Puerto Rico. This is our chance to support others in need.
Contributing is easy, and here’s how:
- Go to the website http://www.jccpr.org/ and click the yellow DONATE button on the upper right of the homepage
- Enter dollar amount of your choice ($18 or multiples of)
- Select if you wish to pay via PayPal or Debit / Credit Card
- Just below the dollar amount, you will see a pencil–click to add a message and state that you are donating as a congregant from Beth Torah so the Puerto Rican community will know where the support came from.
